do i have any chance at UCLA?

Hi everyone. Do you think I have a shot at UCLA with my current stats? I appreciate every comment. Thank you very much.

I am asian, male, and a resident of California.

GPA: 10-12 A-E,G: 4.0000 (sorry I don't know how to calcuate UC GPA, and i think this is weighted)
SAT 1: 630 Reading, 610 Math, 620 Writing, = 1860
SAT 2: 740 U.S. History, 630 Chemistry
Class Rank: 34/627

classes:

SOPHMORE:
Spanish 2 - A/A
World History - A/A
Biology - A/A
Geometry - B/A
English 2 - A/A
Avid 2 - A/A

JUNIOR:
AP U.S. History- A/A
Spanish 3- A/A
Chemistry - A/A
CP English 3 - A/A
Avid Junior Seminar - A/A
Alg/2trig - A/A

(summer school at a community college for Pre-Calculus - A)

SENIOR:
AP Gov/politics (2nd semester I will take AP Economics)
AP Physics B
AP Calculus AB
AP Spanish 4
CP English 4
Avid Senior Seminar
Art 1

If it matters, my school only offers about 10~12 AP classes and I have taken 5.

Extracurriculars:
-about 100 hours of community service at a local resouce center for children and seniors
-president of a club at school
-member of a vietnamese youth committee that promotes community service and spreads culture
-member of national honor society and california federal scholarship at school
-i've been in avid for 4 years (advancement via individual determination)
-member of EAOP (early academic outreach program)

As you can see, I didn't care much about school until my junior/senior year where I tried to take as many AP courses as I can. I really want to get into UCLA but my stats are under compared to the average stats of admitted applicants. If I write an "okay" personal statement along with my stats, do I have a shot at UCLA? As I type this, I'm trying my best to write a good personal statement.

Also, if UCLA is no shot, what about other UC's like Davis, Irvine, San Diego, or Santa Barbara? Thank you very much for chancing me.

bump… please

you really should re-take your SAT’s because I would day that is your weakest point for now. But i would say with your grades being so high, you definately have a decent shot! good luck

there is only one more sat in december and late registration already passed :X

UCLA - reach
UC Davis - match
UC Irvine - match
UC San Diego - low reach/high match
UC Santa Barbara - match/low match

ofc your sat scores and average class rigor are dragging you down.

I believe you have until November 19th to apply for the December 4th test. You’ll have to pay a late fee, but I think it’s worth trying to improve your scores. :)

do you think taking a fourth time would be way too much?

bump please. anymore chancers? or did redteabag nail it ?

My D (senior w/UCLA as her 1st choice/UCD 2nd), is taking it for the 3rd and final time next month. Most of her friends took the SAT 4 times and the ACT 2-3 times. Do your scores increase with each retake, or have they pretty much stayed the same? Did you take the ACT (some kids do much better on the ACT).

I think redteabag nailed it and you’ll have your best chances at UCI, UCD and UCSB. Best of luck to you!!

I agree regarding your SAT I’s.
IMO, an 1860 seems too low for UCLA… But, you never know, since you have a great GPA…

Well, here’s UCLA’s average SAT scores as of last year’s pool:
•Test Scores – 25th / 75th Percentile
•SAT Critical Reading: 560 / 680
•SAT Math: 590 / 720
•SAT Writing: 580 / 700

and I don’t think taking it four times is a lot. If you reach your goal score by attempting it for the fourth time, colleges won’t care :)

my sat scores so far are…1690, 1820, and 1860. yeah it seems like they are slowly increasing lol :s maybe i will reconsider taking it again

thanks everyone for advice
