Do I have any chance of admission as a transfer student?

I would really like to transfer to Northwestern as I think it would be a better school for me. Unfortunately my GPA my first semester of college was not very good so I don’t think I really have a chance, but I would like to know what you guys think. Here are my stats:

  • UW Madison currently
  • 2.88 gpa :(
  • 32 ACT
  • 91 credits currently (senior standing I think)
  • two foreign languages (french and spanish)
  • direct admit to school of business at madison (I don't know if this matters but I'll put it anyway)
  • freshman/1 semester completed at madison

I don’t know what else Northwestern looks for in transfer students, so I’ll leave it at that. Do I have any chance of admission if I apply next year?

With a 2.98 college GPA there is no chance of transferring to Northwestern if that GPA does not improve significantly. You failed to stand out at Madison so why would a more elite school take a chance on you?

You need to get your act together and take advantage of the great opportunities at Madison instead of trying to pursue prestige.

Of course you do. Northwestern values diversity. Use your essay to show what you will add to the community. Best of luck!
