I’m a US citizen but I grew up abroad. I was in a french school until the end of my high-school. I’m back in the US and my dream, one of my ultimate goal is to get into Yale. I’m sure that my actual high-school grade are not enough to get into Yale, that’s why I want to do 2 years in a University and then Apply to Yale during my sophomore year to have better chances.
I don’t know if it can help me, but I practiced lot of sports during my high-school especially soccer; I was one of the best athletes of my high-school and I got the 2nd better grade in sport during the final high-school exam (in French system).
I was my class representative in the 10th and 12th grade and the high-school representative ( for students ) in the 12th grade during quarterly meetings. I was the Vice-President of the Council of Lycee Student and a member of my high-school community home. I also participated in the Chemistry Olympiad.
Plus, I don’t know if it is a good argument, but I can speak, read, write and understand French and Spanish.
Chances of being admitted to Yale as a transfer are lower than being admitted as a freshman. Transfer acceptance rates are lower than freshman acceptance rates. You should apply to Yale as a freshman and a variety of other colleges. If not admitted to Yale be happy where you end up and maybe consider Yale for graduate study.
Last year, Yale’s overall acceptance rate was 6.3%, however as @TomSrOfBoston said, transfer acceptance rates are lower: https://admissions.yale.edu/transfer-details
If you have already finished HS are you taking a gap year? Will you be able to have all your records/LORs/transcripts/test scores etc sent from your home HS?
Thank you for all your answers.
@gibby @TomSrOfBoston Yes, I’ve noticed the difference of acceptance rate between Freshmen applicants and Trasnfer applicants; that’s why i want to give my best during two years to increase my chances.
@jym626 I’ve graduated from HS in June 2018 (I’ve succeed in the French Baccalaureate, the final exam to leave HS). I’m not taking a gap year. Because I was in a French school, I’m taking Intensive English Program for this semester at University of Maryland. For the spring semester I’m planning to start my major in another university. And yes, I will be able to have them all sent but not from my home HS.
