Hey everyone, I am a transfer student and I need to figure out whether I have enough to attend UCR.

I have the UCR grant for 16,570, 5,500 from loans and 500 for a scholarships.

So I have 22,570 for this upcoming year. My parents will be helping my out when they can, but it's definitely not a 100% sure thing.

Which is why I am trying to figure out if I have enough. I am trying to hold off getting a job until January since during the holidays I am planning to visit family a lot.

FROM UCR Cost of Attendance
Tuition and Fees $14,005
Room and Board $13,500
Books and Supplies $1,800
Transportation $1,200
Personal Costs $1,750

Total Cost of Attendance $32,255

I will be staying at Bannockburn for 315 per month and I chose this place only because it's cheap which is exactly what I need right now. I know that the estimated cost for Room is going to be dramatically reduced since I am staying in the most cheapest place available.

I know that tuition and fees is 100% accurate since it comes from the school so that stays the same in cost.

For Books and Supplies I am averaging that it will cost 900 because I know where to get all the best deals of books (like renting on Chegg or some other sites)

Transportation is also going to be less since I don't have car, and only plan on using the public transportation to get around Riverside. I only plan on going back during Thanksgiving and Winter break (and maybe some other miscellaneous times) so transportation is basically bus tickets.

Personal Costs seems accurate so I don't plan on changing that.

My New Cost of Attendance
Tuition and Fees $14,005
Room and Board $5,500
Books and Supplies $900
Transportation $500
Personal Costs $1,750

Total Cost of Attendance $22,655

New cost is about 22,655. The thing is that I don't know if this possible like maybe I am being too naive that I have enough to attend UCR.

I really want someone to give me a realistic view on whether this plan is even doable. Or do I need an extra 3,000?

Also do you guys think I should get a job asap or do you think I can wait unit January? And does anyone know where is my best chance on getting a part time job on campus?

Plus does anyone know if it's still possible to get work-study? I wasn't offered it in my financial aid package, but I would be interested in it.

Thank you everyone! I really appreciate it!!!
