I took a political science class with a professor last semester and got an A in the class (only 10% got an A). A few weeks ago, this professor (after I emailed him to see what else he's teaching for this semester) invited me to be in his senior seminar class. I am the only sophomore in a class of approximately 10 senior political science majors. This professor is argueably the biggest name on campus - he is the chair of the sociology dept here, taught at Columbia, Vassar, and Yale (where he received his phd), and constantly lectures around the world. Can a rec from him (after he explains my unique place in the class) be some sort of 'hook' for my application? I'll probably be applying to all the schools he taught at and some others, as a philosophy major.

Sounds good you should try to get one from him.

haha i love how you are just using him for your advantage. people these days...

Should he use him for love?

hey colin - i'm not.

For love? ha ha. Hey, one of the job requirement that a professor agrees to is "write letters for their students." So, I don't think he is using his professor.

pellman, i have never laughed so hard at a CC post in my entire life.

thank you thank you, what a terrific audience.

Why not, besides that's what I'm doing with alot of my professors.
