Do I Have to Apply as a Transfer?

Are there any universities where I could I apply as a freshman despite having prior higher institution education?

Anyone? :(

Yes, colleges vary in the amount of post HS college they will accept for fr admissions. Some will make you apply as a transfer if you have ANY post HS college, others will let you apply as a fr if you have less than a year of post HS college. You need to look at the college websites.

possibly schools in the UK

Sorry, I think I misread the OP. I thought you were talking about having a few college credits. If you already have an UG degree, that’s another matter.

If you already have a full undergraduate degree, some colleges/universities will accept you as a transfer even though your new degree program is expected to require four full years to complete. For example, if you have a degree in studio art and now want to study mechanical engineering, the course sequence and course pre-requisites would pretty much guarantee that you need four more years.

Back in the last century, I enrolled at my cheap home-state public to study agriculture after completing a liberal arts degree elsewhere. I was classified as a “Senior Transfer” because of the number of credits I had, but obviously I had to enroll in a number of freshman level courses! The Senior status was fantastic because it meant I had first priority for enrolling in any of the courses I wanted each term. I also met a number of other students who were doing the same thing. The ones who decided to complete full degrees took about two and a half years to finish. I didn’t get a second bachelor’s degree because I applied to grad school as soon as I had enough coursework to prepare me for the grad program I wanted.

“Back in the last century, I enrolled at my cheap…”

ah the good old days when college prices were reasonable
