Do I have to ask two teachers(not counselor) to write recommendations?

My teachers have already submitted the recommendations but I suddenly notice Columbia might require 2 recommendations from teachers, not some other persons..

I ask my counselor who is also my Chinese teacher and the vice president of our school to write one recommendation and let my math teacher write another...In this way, can admission office consider I have 2 "teachers recommendations"... or will I need another teacher recommendation?

I am really confused...since my Chinese teacher has 3 positions in our school, the Chinese teacher, guidance counselor and vice-president....She is the one who filed my school report but she did not file either of the teacher report,,,so she submit the recommedation as the counselor....Do counselor recommendation equal teacher recommendation? If not, do I have to have 3 teachers(one counselor, 2 teacher) in total to write recommendation for me?

Can you contact the admin of the colleges and ask? They may give you the specific info.

........I just think there is somebody on the board that could help..since Columbia is really slow in procession emails...

I don't want to trouble anyone, just ask some questions. If somebody know and will answer them, I will be very grateful..

I know i can call the admission office, but my international IP phone card just runs out of money..All I did just to make sure if I didnot make mistakes in the application process

I may not be the best person to answer this, but it is typical for students to submit two recommendation letters AND a letter from a guidance counselor to colleges. Are you at a Chinese school in the U.S. or are you an international student? If you are at an international school, the structure is usually very different, I would guess they would require the same number of recommendation, but I would recommend calling the admissions office, since the structure of your school seems different from other schools, since guidance counselors do not usually teach. To e safe, I would include two teachers and a guidance counselor rec.

I am a international student....So i am a little bit confused with American uses of language...In our country, there is no big difference between counselor and teacher...

anyway, thanks,,I will send a email to the admission office to ask this question later

In the U.S., a guidance counselor is there to help you schedule your classes, understand the admissions process, keep track of your records, and help you with problems, they are never actually in the classroom- they do not teach at all. Teachers only teach classes- they do not have anything to do with your schedule or keeping track of your records.

You need one letter of recommendation from any school official with your Secondary School Report, and two recommendations from two of your teachers with your Teacher Reports A and B. So you need one recommendation with every Report - i.e. 3 recommendations in total, since there are 3 Reports.

I have a similar situation. Even though one of my teachers is also a vice principal (or rather, has become one), I still had to ask my counselor to write the recommendation for the Sec. School Report.

COLUMBIA is one of the fastest in replying my emails.. no more than one day usually!!

I had two teachers write my recoms A and B.. while my bio teacher/counselor wrote my counselor one.. if that helps..

Correction: it's not more than two working days..

I'm an international too..
