Hello everyone! I will be applying to schools that require two teacher recommendations (specifically Stanford and Princeton). All the other schools I will be applying to do not require recommendations.

The problem is, my high school is a private school and we are very different from most high schools. For one thing, we only have 4 classes everyday, and it just so happens that one of my teachers teaches two of the classes I have. So in total, I only have 3 different teachers.

However, I need two recommendatiions for Stanford and two for Princeton. What do I do? Do I ask a teacher to write two recommendations? To make matters worse, one of my teachers doesn't seem to like me very much so I guess I really have only two teachers as options for writing recommendations. Is it appropriate to ask a teacher to write more than one recommendation?

Also, both Stanford and Princeton require counselor recommendations as well. Do I ask my counselor to write both? Is this normally the case with most students that apply to many schools asking for recommendations?

Lastly, if I use the common app form to apply to numerous schools requiring recommendations, is a common app teacher recommendation form written by one teacher sent to all the common app schools that I will apply for?

Thanks for helping me in my dilemma! Good luck to everyone on their college endeavors!

I think most people will ask two teachers to fill out all (or at least most) of their recommendations. Most teachers will use the same recommendation for all your schools, and just change a few things.

its standard to use the same teacher(s) for all your recs. The teachers are telling schools about you, and there's no reason they have to tell just one ...

im lucky im in a school who kids have same teacher 9-12th grade for a subject and same for every other one and certain things like spanish and gym and art u can have him/her for 5-12(its private soo it goes 5-12th grade) so im in 10th(just started) i will have most of my teachers for many years

Can anyone answer my common app question? If a teacher were to write a recommendation for me using the common app recommendation form, does it mean that I can simply send the recommendation to all the common app schools that I apply to?

Yes, you can send the same letter to multiple schools. It is unusual for a recommender to write a seperate letter for each school a student applies to. Usually, the write one letter or complete one common app. form, copy that, and send it to all the schools to whom the student is applying.
