Do I have to send my SAT score? It's very bad.

I’m not exactly the best at standardized tests. I did very poorly on the SAT and it’s obviously a little late to take it now, but I did better on the ACT and I really don’t want to send colleges my SAT score.

Is it required that I do? If it would help, here is where I am applying:

UC Santa Barbara
UC Los Angeles
UC Irvine
UC San Diego
CSU Fullerton
Cal Poly SLO
San Diego State University
Emerson College
New York University
Syracuse University
St. John’s University
University of Portland
Portland State University

My SAT is just so pathetically ugly I don’t even want to report them. I know you guys might be thinking something like “I bet you just got a 1300 so shut up” but I’m serious: what I actually got is a very terrible score and I feel like it would be bad to even put. Maybe I can change my identity. I don’t know. Yikes.

You only need to send your SAT or ACT to the UC’s and Cal States. I do not know the other schools policy.

I don’t know about the UCs but most colleges will accept either/or, so you can just send the ACT. They don’t even need to know that you took the SAT. Good luck.

Each of those schools will state very clearly in their admission requirements which scores they require (and which they recommend). So you might need to spend a little time researching the websites.

If your score is truly bad but you are otherwise a good student, apply to test-optional schools. Fairtest.org.
