<p>That’s not exactly true. Even though you live in he US, if your first language is not English, then you have to take it (just like me!)</p>
<p>Check with the school you’re applying to (or find out about this on their website). I would say it varies from school to school. If English is your first language, then of course you do not have to take it (doesn’t matter where you currently live). Obviously the test is for students whose English is not a primary language.</p>
<p>Also, most of the time, if you’ve been in a school where the primary language is English for over 3 years then you are exempt from taking the TOEFL test.</p>
<p>Since you have stated that English is your first language, then the answer is no.</p>
