Hi, do I need to take physics in high school to be on the track to becoming a doctor? I know that most med schools require physics and therefore its one of the courses you need to take as a premed, so I know you will need to take it as an undergrad. However, what about as a high school student?

Thanks in advance for your help and advice.

You aren’t required to take it in high school. If you’re really sure about med school I’d reccomend taking it though. That way you’ll be more familar with the course in college and will be better suited to beat the curve.

No, you don’t. But it’s interesting and worth taking. Plus, if you do pursue pre-med requirements then you will see physics later on anyway. It really doesn’t matter, though. High school physics won’t prepare you for college physics unless you take like AP Physics C and get a 5.

It’s not required, but it will probably make you more competitive. Plus, when you take colleges physics, even if it goes way beyond high school physics it will probably be helpful to have a basic background in the subject.
