Do I need to complete the supplement for my 2nd choice major?

I just submitted my application to USC, but unfortunately did not see these instructions until after submitting:

Additional Instructions for your Selected Major

If you apply to the major listed here, it is your responsibility to complete your application by any special deadlines. Be sure to obtain any supplementary forms and fulfill other departmental requirements.

Unless special deadlines are listed, follow the general application deadlines.

Communication
Annenberg School for Communication
All applicants to journalism and public relations must submit a one-page statement of intent discussing their reasons for pursuing an education and a career in journalism or public relations. Fax the statement directly to your admission file or paste it as the response to the OPTIONAL short answer box.

Communication was my second-choice major though, so do I still need to do this one page statement of intent? And if so, what do they mean "fax the statement directly to your admission file"? I've already submitted so I can't paste it as the response to the optional answer, so I can only go the first route.

The deadline for scholarship consideration is Dec. 1 - Thanks for any help!

I doubt they would consider your application complete without it, so I would suggest either changing your second choice major or sending the statement. I think there's a section of the online application that allows you to "fax" additional documents to your file, so you should look for that section.

Sorry but do you know where the link is that i can fax things directly to my admissions file? I can't seem to find it..Thanks!

Office of Admission Fax Number: (213) 821 0200
Admissions phone # : (213) 740 1111

Look under "Contact USC Office of Admission" in USC site (sorry the url I have on the sheet listing contact #s doesn't seem to work/link properly)

Sorry elc - I thought there was a direct link from the application area of the website last year, but have no way of checking it because I'm not an applicant. Maybe you have to submit an application before the link comes up for you. What I remember is that they called it a fax but it was really just a way of adding something to your admission file via computer.
