<p>I just got my results from my first time taking the SAT. I got a 2340 (740 R 800 M 800 W). My top 3 schools are Yale, Brown, and MIT. I didn't really study so I know I can get that reading score up. Should I retake, or will it not affect my chances of acceptance?</p>

<p>The only benefit to re-taking it is for personal satisfaction. I know you feel like you can get a higher score because you didn’t study for critical reading, but getting a higher score will virtually have zero impact on your chances of acceptance. It would be much better to invest your time into developing a good essay which will set you apart if you do it right.</p>
