Okay so, I had applied for housing for cal poly pomona because I wanted to live there at first but I have a job and I’m in the process of getting a car. Therefore I decided to commute because cpp is a 25-35 min drive from my house. I have a $300 fee on my account because its suppose to be the deposit for the housing. I already sent in a request to cancel my housing license on march/20th. The deadline to pay the 300 dollars is may first and they have yet to cancel my housing license. If I don’t pay that $300 on may 1st will my admissions to the school be revoked or will my housing license be voided?

My understanding is that if you are not in their local area (which is like within a 10 minute drive) you must live on campus the 1st year. There is info on their web site about it.

Did you fill out the exemption form? They have list on the housing website of which exemptions to the FTF housing requirement they allow. If you did you might contact housing to make sure they received the form.

I live in their desired area so its not mandatory that I live there. I wanted to live there to have the whole college experience but its not worth how much money you pay.

I didn’t have to fill at an exemption form because I live in the desired area, but I had to send in a petition to cancel my agreement license. Once I did that the person I talked to at the school said I had to wait for them to review it and cancel it. But I sent in my request to cancel it in march! And they have yet to cancel it!

I would definitely contact them on Monday to get that off your to do list.

Thats what I intend to do. Its just so annoying because I have called them about three times in the pass two weeks and every time I called someone would say “we have to review your petition to cancel it form and approve it and the fee will be taken off your account, you will know before may 1st”. Yet may 1st is monday and it hasnt changed. -_-

Sorry about that. I hope they fix it for you soon. :(

Thank a lot for the concern :)

i called and everything got worked out fine. Since I live in the desired area I don’t have to pay the 300 by today. If I want to reapply for housing the guy said itll be harder for me to get housing because I’m applying the second time around. Im sure hes just saying that though, because when I looked up the stats for poly only like 10% of freshman live on campus. Im sure theres some space somewhere.
