I am probably not the only one worried or with questions about housing in CPP. Hopefully someone here has enough experience to guide us.
My main concern is that I am a transfer and Housing office told me it is less likely to get On-Campus Housing as a transfer since Freshmen get priority. Is it worth it to apply then, considering the 450 payment? Was I misinformed and transfers actually do get housing guaranteed?
have you paid for the payment? If you haven’t paid, your file is considered incomplete meaning that if you’re on the waiting list, you’ll be 325+ Until you pay. If you already paid your file is considered complete which it will take you to the 200 mark making you priority of incomplete. Depending on housing and how many people are in the waiting list in front of you.l that is. The list updates every 2 weeks I believe.
My waiting list number is between 175 for housing. You should call housing and asked them about your concerns. People will sometimes cancel their payment and look for more affordable options, thus make you move up on the list. I hope this gives you a brief idea.
Thanks for your help.
I haven’t paid, but thats the thing, I don’t want to put down 450 that I will not be able to get back for a long time, specially if I will eventually be forced to look for off-campus and need the money for deposit/rent. I did call Housing and the guy was basically discouraging me from applying because of how unlikely it was for a transfer to get in with all the freshman applicants. So that’s basically why I came to ask here, hoping someone would assure me that he misinformed me or something… guess not.
The Village is even more confusing in my experience, haven’t been able to apply, not even sure if I am eligible and their webpage doesn’t work well for me
I’m sorry to hear that. Don’t let that guy discourage you. The village I had applied but they never got back to me and I’ve called numerous time and they always put me on hold not answering back. Have you tried considering to make that payment and wait a couple weeks to see where you stand, and if it doesn’t work out you can always get your full refund. That’s what I pretty much did. 3 weeks ago I paid and I’m still waiting to go down. Pretty much I’m taking a leap of faith.
After a few hours of research online, it really does look like theres no good options off-campus. I think I will do what you did and just take a leap of faith as well. I would hate to see them wait and tell me no when school’s about to start, but looks like I have no other option. If you ever get placed, please post it here to get an idea of how the waitlist is moving.
@slofan I applied for the suites. Are you a freshmen? There might not be any rooms left since a lot of freshmens are applying for dorms. However I called today there are rooms for the suites, but suites are for transfers students and freshmens are for dorms, which I’ve been told from their housing rep.
@ka0sControl, i’m a freshman. They did not mention anything about the dorms being full. They keep telling me that we will get the room assignments in July. I hope that is really the case.
Are you on their waiting list? If so you should call and Ask them where you stand. I’m assuming you have paid the initial payment. Let’s say if the dorms are full ask if you can be switch to suites with your parents consent since you are under 21.
