Do I retake???

Hey everyone. I took the ACT and got a 35 composite, but I was super concerned because I got a 33 in science. Then I took the chem SAT II to try to show that I’m good at science, but I got a 790. I also got a 5 on AP chem. I’m aiming for a top tier school but I want to show really good standardized tests scores because I don’t really have much in the way of extracurriculars. I really don’t want to retake my ACT, so should I retake the SAT chem? Do I need to retake? Is there a difference between 800 and 790 (91/90 vs 88 percentile)? Im considering a major in BME or bio (pre med track). I took the bio sat 2 once in sophomore year and got a 750 on molecular and I really don’t wanna go through the studying for that again :frowning:

Sorry I just realized this should probably go to the SAT subject section but I’m new to this site and don’t know how to change it!

They are all great scores!!! Congrats, you’re done.

750+ on subject tests clears the bar just about everywhere.

The ACT science section is really more about reading comprehension and less about science per se. 33 is excellent. It is the section where students typically score the lowest. To get a 33, you can only miss a question or two. 35 composite is also excellent. 35 vs. 36 will not make or break your application.

@mamaedefamilia thanks for the reply! I actually checked again and I realized that I got the bio SAT score in freshman year, not sophomore year. Does that help me? Will colleges see it as better if it’s from freshman year?

Also I’m concerned because I’m an Asian male and I feel like standards are so high for Asians. I have a little time - should I try the SAT too?

I totally see why you’re worried but as long as you don’t present bio as your best subject, I think it’ll be okay! (Maybe apply for English and then switch?)

I’m sorry for stalking I just wanted to clear the air and I thought giving you some helpful advice would pave the way to a possible friendship
