Do I Stand A Chance?

hi, i am a junior and my college days are rapidly approaching =[

i post something like this a while ago but it got deleted soooo anyway, i really want to go to go to uconn and after visiting storrs i was convinced that this is where i want to go. so far uconn is my #1 school ;) however i doubt that i'll get in considering my stats are not impressive, but what do you think??

Race - asian
Gender - female
State Residency - CT

my low GPA puts me at a very low chance of admittance..
9th Grade - 3.0 GPA
10th Grade - 3.0 GPA
11th Grade - 2.5 GPA
12th grade - will definately be higher, around 3.4 i predict

I take a lot of honors classes and a total of 3 AP classes throughtout my high school years.

Extracurriculars:
1) I work. a lot. that will be my main EC considering i work 35+ hours a week.
2) Involved in student goverment: representative junior year and hopefully treasurer senior year
3) I write for the school newspaper and was editor-in-chief 10th grade
4) voluteer at various places including camp and city-wide events
5) member of the teen board at the local library
I am thinking of voluteering at the aquarium or the children's museum this summer, do you think that will boast my EC? because isnt it kind of late to take up more voluteering work?

SAT:
taking it on June 3rd but i bet it will be in the average range.

Essay:
Pretty good

Reccommendations:
I should have good reccommendations from my teachers

SO WHAT DO YOU THINK? Please give me an evaluation of my chances. Also, let me know what i can still improve on, if i can in the limited time. Your help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!!

Any suggestions for other schools is welcome.

You have a fairly good chance. But pick up grades as much as possible and write a good essay and get good recs.

just for a frame of reference:
my sister got rejected this year with a 3.3 gpa, 1050 SAT, decent ECs, and good recs/essays

You have a chance for the regional campuses. I recommend trying to transfer to the campus after one year.

hey guys, i just got accepted into uconn's mentorship 2006 3-week summer program. yay. will this increase my chances of getting in to uconn if i do really well at the program/?

Yes it will. did you get your SAT's yet? They are on line for June.

i got 1610 on the SATs =[

i know its not all that popular in connecticut, but you might want to try the act. where i live most people take both, and many do a lot better on the act. my converted act score was about 100 points better than my sat score (1600 scale)

I got accepted with a 3.2 gpa and a 1060 on my SAT'S minus writing. Just for a frame of reference.
