Do I still get a chance to transfer into ChemE?

I am currently a freshman chemistry major, thinking about transferring into CIT Chemical Engineering.

I am kind of panicing right now because of my terrible mid-term grades. I am carrying 66 units this semester and got a 3.58 QPA for the mid-term. It doesn't sound too bad at first, but the problem is that my two B's come from Intro to ChemE (Ok, I have no clue why I bombed this class) and Lab I. Considering that they are both core requirements for ChemE major, I wonder if I still have a chance to transfer into CIT, or should I just give up for this semeter and try again next year?

Anyone who has transferred successfully, please help me!

Thanks in advance for all the posts to come.

Yeah, you’re fine. C’s would be a different case, but… seriously, calm down. That’s a great GPA for your midterm grades. :p

The average GPA at CMU is 3.1

You have nothing to loose by applying- there’s more people transferring out of CIT than into CIT.
Go speak to Kurt Larsen on Monday.

So a B is considered “bombing” a class? Seeing as there are no +/- grades given…and the grading scales is depressed in comparison to many schools…I think you’re panicking for no reason. And if they should not allow you to transfer, just keep trying. With grades like that, you’ll surely get in sooner or later.
