Do I still have a chance?

I got 4 B+'s and an A+ first term of freshman year, do I still have a chance at any Ivy League or Near-Ivy colleges?

Yes, of course you do. Most colleges pay little attention to freshman grades if you do well later.

Phew… I’m used to all A’s, and I go to a prestigious school, so I was worried when I saw so many B’s

I agree with @woogzmama that you still have a shot. Don’t take the Bs lightly though. They CAN be indicative of the type of student you will be for the remainder of your high school career, and of course, the classes will get harder. Be really introspective and find out what it is that led to those Bs. Did you not study enough? Did you not study efficiently enough? Did you miss homework assignments? Were you not listening in class so that you missed a due date and got a lower grade or a zero as a result? Shore up your weaknesses. You may discover down the line that you don’t want to go to an Ivy or other elite college, but it’s best to come to that realization while still having the ability to perhaps attend an Ivy or another elite college. For now, it seems you DO want to attend a top college…so, make it happen! You have the time left to develop a high school resume that is difficult to resist. Good luck!

Thanks for the advice. I have already given a lot of thought as to what caused these grades, and I believe I have located my weak points.
