Do I have the slightest chance...

This question may seem dumb. I am a hs freshman and my gpa this year was a 3.5 weighted. If I get my act together and completely turn around for my next 3 years of hs and get a 3.9 or 4.0, will I be able to attend any Ivy Leagues… If not what would I need to do. Freshman year was just a disaster! I didn’t study.

Please consider other schools; the Ivy league is not the be-all end-all of colleges. Even with a 3.9 GPA your chances at any of those schools are incredibly low, unless you have some kind of amazing hook. Look at the recent results threads for some of the Ivies, and hopefully you’ll get a wake up call before you kill yourself trying to get into one.

Recommendations of other schools just generally speaking not knowing what I want to major in, test scores, location etc.

@gohawks if you’re unsure of those things, then it’s best not to do this now. work hard, develop and find yourself, and come back in a year or so with a more developed profile with test scores.

@gohawks12 the top 30 is a good place to start, that is if you can get your GPA to at least a 3.8 for the rest of high school. But I agree with the above poster. A big part of the college selection is how YOU feel about the school environment. I have no idea who you are, and if you have no idea what location or subject you want to study, I can’t really give any advice. Just try new things in high school and explore

Like others are saying, your chances of getting into any Ivy (or similarly selective school) are low no matter what your stats are simply because they’re very selective. 3.5 is not horrible and it is quite possible that you can raise that GPA with more study throughout your other years of high school. Please broaden your scope; decide what areas you are interested in and find out what your cost constraints are before making a list of colleges. And that all doesn’t have to happen right now, you’re only what, 14 or 15? Don’t sculpt your life around what college admissions personnel might think of you.
