A better question is “how would they look for you?”

You do internships to boost chances at college now, you get into a top college. Cool. Then you start doing internships in college to get a good job, and you get into a high paying job. Cool. Then you start working your butt off to get promoted, which you do. Cool. Soon you’re a top executive. Awesome! Yeah, until you realize you’re in a job you hate, because you never took the time when you were in high school, college, or post-graduation to figure out what you were passionate about.

At some point, probably better sooner rather than later, the motivation will have to come from within.

I actually enjoy research and civic work a ton- I actually find research exciting and fun (some may call me strange for enjoying reading journal papers, but eh, that’s me).

The problem is deciding between a standard research program (Clark program, RSI, etc.) and an internship. I was thinking using the college-perspective to decide.

But, thanks for the life advice- taken note of.

Why are you asking this question? Do you think anyone would think these are bad?

Besides perhaps the cynical (and true) view that you’ve gotten some of these roles solely due to connections versus real merit, why are you asking this question?
