Do ivy leagues care about the number of APs per year?

im a sophomore in 1 AP, next year i plan on taking four and self studying for 2, taking a total of 6 ap tests, will it matter that sophomore year i only took 1? or is it just seen as a number?

Take the most your school offers. I took 0 sophomore year and I’m 95% sure I’ll be going to a Top 5 university next year.

BTW this is in the wrong forum.

You shouldn’t be taking AP courses simply to make your transcript look nice.

IMO, waste of time unless you enjoy the classes and don’t stay up past midnight every night doing the coursework.

I took 0 freshman year, 0 sophomore year, 3 junior year, and 5 senior year and I now go to an ivy league school. The rigor of your schedule depends on your school. In the highest track in my school, people didn’t start taking APs until junior year and most people only took AP U.S. and AP English Language that year. Many of these kids are now at ivies or other top colleges. However, many of the prerequisites we had to take to get into AP classes were taught at the same or higher level of AP courses at other schools. As a result, kids usually scored very highly on the tests. Several classes had as many as 90% of students getting 5s. This being said, colleges didn’t penalize us for having taken less APs, it depends completely on your school.
