Do my AP/IB scores count as Transfer Credit?

I’m currently attending the summer term and there’s a transfer application for the Fall term at another college. This is my first time in college as I just got out of high school back in May. I’m currently taking 9 credit hours here at this college and on the other college’s website, it states that someone with at least 12 transferable semester college credits is considered a transfer Applicant. I have 3 credits in AP and 21 credits for IB. I am wondering if these 24 college credits taken in high school are applicable under the ‘12 transferable semester’ credits. If they do count, I would have 33 credits that qualify for transfer. (The college I want to transfer to is FAMU)

Ask FAMU about this first thing on Monday. I expect that they aren’t considered transferrable credits in the same way as your credits from your current college or university.

If you are accepted at FAMU and decide to enroll there, you will need to have your AP and IB scores sent directly to them. They will decide which (if any) can be used for credit and/or advanced placement. It is possible that they won’t accept the same ones as your current college or university has.

I have contacted them and they said that my AP/IB credits do count as transfer (The classes I took & passed are are counted for credit), but I may call again to reconfirm.

FAMU will accept AP or IB credit based on its own policies (not what your current college gave for that AP or IB credit). This may result in a different number of credits and different subject credit compared to what you got at your current college.

I have checked on their website and they do accept the credits for the AP/IB I took. I’m just wondering if these credits will count towards my transfer along with the 9 credits I’m currently taking at this college.

The only people who can give you an accurate response, are the people in the admission office. Don’t speak with the first person who picks up the phone. Speak with someone at the top of the food chain.

Thank you for the advice!
