Ivies (Yale, Harvard, Princeton, Columbia, UPenn)- High Reach
Georgetown- reach, I looked at the common data set, and class rank is very important
Duke- reach, class rank is “considered” and not “very imporant” or “imporant” as other college factors…
Harvey Mudd- high match-----Don’t know
Pomona- high match------------Don’t know
Carleton- high match--------Don’t know
University of Chicago- Depends on how well you write your essays, Low/Mid Reach
Reed- high match---------Don’t know
Northwestern- Low Reach
Johns Hopkins- Low Reach
Carnegie Mellon- Match, if you don’t do computer science
University of Washington (Applied Honors by Dec 1)- Accepted
University of Southern California (Applied by Dec 1)- High Match, very good chances…

I am in the same boat, mediocre sats, not in top 10 percent, and decent gpa…Good Luck…sucks how I got rejected flat out from Rice, and you got rejected from Cornell, E.D.

Should be interesting to see what schools accept us…because of the class rank

Cornell seems to have such a huge range between SAT scores, so it seems like it isn’t the first priority when accepting students, but if it’s really your first choice, I would say to re-apply. In your rejection, did they tell you to consider reapplying for the regular decision? If so, then I would say to to reapply, if you get the 2300 like you are expecting. 2300 seems so much better than 2150, in my opinion. I can’t see any harm in reapplying, so if it means a lot to you, I would say to do it.

I don’t really know about most of these schools but if you didn’t get into cornell it will be tough to get into the other ivies / chicago unless you change your essays around a bit. you don’t seem that unique from your stats but i’m sure you are special in your own way. just get this across and you should be fine! :)

your academic record is good and the ECs are great
