Hi all,

I was wondering how many people about or if if any...get admitted to MIT Early with SAT Below 1500.

What can make up for a sub 1500 score? Science project awards?

Hi all,

I was wondering how many people about or if if any...get admitted to MIT Early with SAT Below 1500.

What can make up for a sub 1500 score? Science project awards?

umm yeah...

Yes. waves Hi, I'm Laura. Nice to meet you.

The living proof is telling you to relax and not worry about it.

P.S. I have no science project awards either.

I don't think yiu schould really worry about it. They look at other things too. There are tons of students who don't even get in RD with 1600s.

People get in with all kinds of scores. MIT is, in my opinion, much less score driven than the other "elite" schools. I'm just basing that what I've seen on CC.

Hey all. Thanks for the responses.
I guess I have always thought that the people who get in early are perfect with respect to stats.
I really want to go to MIT. My SAT is 690 M 740 V and 710 W. I have science awards. Play club and school soccer..invovled in art etc....
thanks again for the info :<)

Ooh, we're twins!

I also had 690M, 740V; I got in RD (didn't apply EA). That's not to say, of course, "OMG you're so totally in", but it's certainly true that those scores won't disqualify you from competition in the applicant pool.

"umm yeah..."

Lets see some proof if you can provide any haha :)

but you two with the 690m 740v are female right?

I was a 700 math male

"but you two with the 690m 740v are female right?"
I am.

You betcha.

oh geez.

Does it matter? Either portion? Gender or SAT, does that really tell someone who you are?

..I may have to self-impose hiatus from cc... but really.

The answer is yes of course :)

I got in EA with a 1390. 700m 690v. By the way, I'm male.

Stasterisk: It doesn't really matter. I was just concerned that my scores might not be high enough to be considered for EA. Scores do matter...in the long run not as much as everything else :P!

Provided the rest of the app. looks good, will a low (around 600) verbal keep someone out? I am just wondering because I have a 740 math and rather low verbal, both on the new SAT.

no i got in with a 590 verbal, and 720 math last year.

Just curious... to people admitted with <1500 or <1400, what sorts of "hooks" did you have?

tanman: ummm...I played field hockey? And did a summer program on public policy? Plus newspaper, robotics, and science league. And that was really my entire app. In fact, I wrote the optional essay about how I don't know anything about technology. To be perfectly honest, I have no idea how I got in.

I think just being a normal person helps best. Seriously. Don't try so hard.

wow you people with <1400 must have really good EC's and stuf
