Last year I took the SAT and scored a 2030, or at the 95th percentile. I studied a little bit and took a practice test for the PSAT between then and October. For the Saturday test, I scored a 203(66R, 67M, 70W), or 97th percentile. I was frustrated that the scores appeared to be the same, but is the PSAT score better because it's at a higher percentile? Would I probably score better right now if I took the SATs? Has this same problem happened to anyone else?

The difference is too small. If you were to take it right now, your score change would likely be caused by the difficulty and curve of the test.

Also, a lot more people take the SATs more seriously than they do the PSATs. That said, a lot more people TAKE the SATs than PSATs, I would think. So the percentiles are different, and it’s harder to gauge this translation of scores. As 187 said, the test curves themselves are also different, and that is a factor playing into it.

You will probably score better now, because of the extra practice. People usually improve over time.

for me, PSAT was 191 and SAT 1900. there’s a correspondence alright.
