I was wondering if our rankings had any impact on our selection as a finalist since they are due a week before notification? I have heard some students say that ranking "more selective" schools decreases your chances of being chosen as a finalist...?

I have to admit that the thought crossed my mind. The timing seems too much of a coincidence to not have some bearing. I wondered because my ds isn’t ranking. Does that make them think why bother making that kid a finalist?

Also, how would they take into consideration the fact that we can change rankings? Idk…i just knoe that if im ranking, im only ranking schools that i know forsurr i want to attend…and those happen to be the morr selective schools D:

Bump…

A lot of applicants only rank the non-binding schools, and they are very selective, so I don’t think that the selectivity of your ranked schools would be a factor in choosing finalists.
Also, QB emphasizes how few matches there are compared to successful regular decision acceptances, so not ranking shouldn’t hurt, either.

It’s true that you can still enter to school without ranking them through the regular decision. However, I think that one reason for applying to Questbridge is to try to fight for the College Match scholarship, which would cover the whole career’s costs; of don’t rank any school, you automatically lose the opportunity of that scholarship.

Okay thanks! I just submitted my rankings! Hopefully, it turns out well :)

Best of luck!
