Say my kid (a junior) took the SAT/ACT the first month of her junior year. And she was happy with those scores. Can she then apply for colleges starting fall quarter/senior year using these scores? Or do you need scores in the calendar year?

The score doesn’t have an expiration date. I used a junior year fall score when I applied.

Thanks Synchronizer, good to know!

They are good for five years. After five years, the testing agencies’ guidance is that the scores should no longer be relied upon as an indicator of success in first year of college, with the result that most colleges require that you submit a test from within last five years. The second rule that acts as a limitation is that colleges generally will not use test scores from tests taken in eighth grade or before.

4 or 5 years. You can ask SAT directly to make sure.
