Will applying for scholarships to Vanderbilt increase the likelihood I will be accepted?
No
No. Not at all.
not sure why people are saying no. https://www.vanderbilt.edu/scholarships/ingram.php
vandy’s website for the ingram scholarships as well as a couple of others clearly state that “preference is given to those who apply.”
I read @applycollege123 to be wondering if applying for merit scholarships improved his chances for admission to Vanderbilt. That is likely why others responded no. The quote you are referring to states that preference for Ingram and Chancellor Scholarships are given to those who specifically apply for those scholarships. CV requires an application to be filled out to be considered.
@vippy72 “preference for the scholarship” is given to those who write the 3 extra essays and submitted their separate scholarship application, rather than people who just submitted the Vanderbilt app. My daughter wrote those essays and it was not easy. They are looking for the total package of leadership/innovation/service. @applycollege123 if your scholarship application is beyond amazing, it might help if your application is as strong.
