Ingram or Chancellor Scholarship?

Hi everyone! I’m looking to apply for a scholarship at Vandy. My question is – which one should I apply to? I’m not entirely sure if I would like to fill out both applications… but I would like to apply for the one that I have a better chance at. For reference, I am a white male with a lot of service and leadership, specifically in working with bridging gaps in education. Thanks!

Ingram sounds like a better fit.

For what reason?

It’s more service oriented, whereas Chancellor’s is a little bit of everything (“outstanding leadership, strength of character, academic achievement, and a deep-seated commitment to diversity and social justice”)

As part of the Ingram scholarship, you get to do service regularly too. I’m not sure if Chancellor’s has that kind of service program. You might want to check out the profiles of current students on the Ingram Scholarship website (CV and Chancellors’s don’t have one), to get a better sense of the scholarship. No harm in applying for both though. There are many overlaps.

apply to both. The more essays the better. Chances are stated as less than 1% but you never win if you don’t enter the game. I encourage all applicants who have something to say to write those merit essays at Vandy and other schools. Once you get to your college destination, you still have to write essays, interview, demonstrate interest etc for all sorts of opportunities. Don’t worry about the differences between Ingram and Chancellors but do your best to answer essays in complementary ways.

Can you use the same recommendations?

@TheMosby correct me if I’m wrong but I don’t think Chancellor’s required recs
