@natalie - my daughter only took it the once. And because we homeschool, and I was not really paying attention, we didnt realize it was coming up so quickly. I signed her up 10 days before.

Okay, thanks. I’m also taking the PSAT and the SAT the same week, also for the same reasons, because I think it would help me study.

I didn’t take a prep course. Personally I think those are a waste of time and money. A better idea is to buy prep books and study off of those, and take as many official SAT/PSAT practice tests.

Yeah I’ve been ordering the old PSATs online, and they’re helping a lot. What was your score?

Strangely, my son’s score dropped from 223 as a sophomore to 212 his junior year. Go figure. Thankfully, we are in MI and he did make it through. Whew.

Hopefully that doesn’t happen to me…I’m relying a lot on SAT and PSAT to get into college because my class rank isn’t the top )):

I increased significantly and I’m really happy it did. 193 sophomore year to 226 junior year :D

oh mann
did you do anything special>?

I only jumped 10 points. I was really disappointed as most of my friends jumped 20-30. Still, I got NMSF, so I guess I can’t complain. Also, I didn’t prep. =P

ahhh okay. a 10 point increase will get me 1 pt away from national merit SF HAHHA

^^^I just basically “studied” for the SAT by taking a bunch of old tests/Blue Book tests and Princeton Review ones.

I received a 204 in my sophomore year also, and it moved up to a 224 in my junior year. I don’t think I did any additional preparation.

Mine did. I took a class for 4 Saturdays, but I didn’t think it helped that much because I didn’t really pay attention…oops!

I’d advise doing practice tests, because I studied hard on my own.

I went from a 195 sophomore year to a 220 junior year.

Oh dang…okay! Yeah I’ve been doing a lot of practice tests
So basically do the practice tests and go over them?

My daughter’s 10th grade PSAT was 181 and her 11th grade was 214 with no special preperation. Her SATs were 2150 (very consistent with her PSATs).

Thanks all for the encouragement.

My D’s PSAT last year (9th grade) was 192 with no prep at all. Her Math was 68 and Writing was 65, but reading was 59. I’ve bought her some prep books and she’s learning more vocabulary so hopefully that will bring up her reading score.

She’s two years ahead in math (of our typical school schedule) and is currently taking pre-calculus as a sophomore. LA’s NM cutoff is 210 this year, previous years were 207, 206, 208. She’s got two years to go, but praying she makes the cut for her class so she can go OOS which is what she wants to do!

THANKS!
