Do Spring Admitted People get to dorm?

i got into spring 2008 but ill only attend if i get to dorm. otherwise ill just attend ucsd or ucla

anybody know?

I'm a CalSO couselor in training. From what I have learned, your chances during Fall semester is slim, but during Spring it is guaranteed.

my friends both got dorms. they wont let u sleep in the street

What UCBUCB says is not exactly true. They expect you to finding alternative housing if you are not offered a dorm assignment.

yah most people i've met who are spring admits get dorms. get into fall extension, i think they can hook you up. if not there's telegraph commons, co-ops, or boarding

Yea during my year everyone in FPF got housing if they wanted it. But I've been informed that it will change since the incoming class size is getting bigger every year, spaces left for FPF students is steadily decreasing (as evident last semester).

I highly recommend signing up for Fall Extension on the 1st possible day you can. There are limited number of spots and it fills up quickly. My room mate is a Spring Admit and was in Fall Extension and there was little to no difference that I could tell.
There are several Spring Admits on my floor and in my building. I don't think you are guaranteed housing as as a Spring Admit but I would guess that almost all that want housing will get it. I remember the threads last summer of wait lists right before school started and some nervous people. I think most (if not all of it) work out.
You have several weeks before you have to make decisions. Take the time to think through your options. There are a lot of housing options besides the Units.
Congrats on getting in.

Most people there realize Indians are Asian right. I will be perfectly contented with The Asia Pacific theme house

bumping this thread

so if i get into fall extention program, do i apply for housing for both fall extension and spring?

I believe so, yea.

Bump

If you get into Fall Extension, apply for housing (don't miss the deadline as they are unforgiving on this!) If you don't get housing in the Fall immediately go on the waitlist and then apply for Spring. The deadline for Spring is sometime in the late Summer or Fall...
Fall Extension kids have a good chance of getting housing at the last minute or mid-term too, at least it happened last year.

There are severeal scenarios:

1) You enroll in FPF. You don't get fall semester housing. You are guaranteed spring semester.
2) You enroll in FPF. You get fall semester housing = spring semester housing as well.
3) You do not enroll in FPF and stay home. You are guaranteed spring housing.

In previous years all FPF students who applied for housing received housing, but as well all know, the university is increasing the incoming class size, so not all FPF students who want housing will receive an assignment.

can anyone explain other types of housing in berkeley?

Don't let the issue of housing be your deciding factor. Many times, spots will open up right before the semester starts or two weeks into it - so be patient.

But if you dont get housing and you want to find something right away (I suggest waiting however because, like I said, spots will open up), Cal Rentals (<a href="https://calrentals.housing.berkeley.edu/index.htm%5B/url%5D">https://calrentals.housing.berkeley.edu/index.htm</a>) can help you find stuff. If you email them, they will send you a list of the most common private residences and dorms in the area for students, such as Telegraph Commons, Tau House, Westminster House, etc...

And if you are worried about not being near your friends, none of Cal's dorms are on-campus - so these private residences are amidst Cal dorms, some are even closer to campus. But the real dorms offer more amenities, services, safety, and more students, so it would be more beneficial for your first year experience to get housing.

If you don't, bug the **** out of them until they do.
