One of my friends dated a former professor of hers a few months after she finished his class. The awkward part was when they went out on a date to a strip club and bumped into a group of his current students.

Also, yeah, as a TA you're definitely instructed not to have any relationships with your students, and if they do come on to you, you need to tell them to come back after you're done being their TA. If you have a preexisting relationship with a student that's in your class, you're responsible to inform the professor generally some sort of board of review to determine if it's ethical for you to teach the class or not.

I'm dating my former TA...we started out as friends because I felt like I couldn't talk to anyone at my college and theeeeen...yeah. The only awkward thing is that he's a grad student in the political science department and I am an undergrad, so after hanging out with his friends, a few of them have popped up as my teachers or other TAs (that's fun, lemme tell you).

What do you mean it's an ethical issue? What I said has nothing to do with your own personal values or moral compass.

A professor can be completely fine sleeping with a student, and vice versa. And it's certainly possible that the relationship does not interfere with the professor's fairness or responsibilites. Theoretically it's possible. But if you do it, you will be fired.

hmmm...well, my dad was a professor of this college he taught at and my mom was also a student in this school about 20 years ago (not sure if she was his student or not)...and they met together in college, married, and had me. so yeah, i'm sure this stuff happened before in college.

peter_parker says ridiculously: "A professor can be completely fine sleeping with a student, and vice versa. And it's certainly possible that the relationship does not interfere with the professor's fairness or responsibilites. Theoretically it's possible. But if you do it, you will be fired."

LOL WUT. Yeah, I'm sure that's entirely possible, that you can hook up with someone and then give them a D.

My personal contribution: not in college, but this chick who graduated last year is dating this young, new teacher at our highschool. And by date, I mean they don't date or are legit because they live far away, they just have vidsex and such
