Do These Colleges Require a School Report and Counselor Letter?

I am really hoping someone can help me with this. I need to know if the following list of colleges requires the "Secondary School Report" also know as the NACAC, the school report from the commonapp, and within the school report, a counselor letter. The big thing though is if the schools require the counselor/advisor letter. Very few schools make it clear what they need.

List of Schools:

American University
Skidmore College
Wellesley College
Clark University
Mount Holyoke College
University of Puget Sound
Wheaton College (Mass.)
Castleton State College
Emmanuel College (Mass.)
Western New England University
Bates College
Connecticut College
Hampshire College
Amherst College

NACAC form: yes or no
School report from commonapp: yes or no
Counselor/advisor letter: yes or no

Thanks so much to whoever can help. And if you just know for one of these schools that would be just as awesome!

Maybe I’m not understanding your question, but my experience is that most schools are very clear on their websites about what they require. Amherst for instance (see the checklist):

https://www.amherst.edu/media/view/425511/original/FirstYearCompleteFinal%202012-2013.pdf

Also, the CA SR includes the GC evaluation.

Amherst is clear that they require the school report. They say nothing about the NACAC or the counselor letter. I know that the counselor recommendation is part of the school report but some schools still say that they don’t want it. Still other schools are explicit in that they say they want the counselor recommendation, school report, and NACAC. All these schools have different systems and different names for everything. It just gets so confusing. But yes you are right, Amherst does have a pretty good checklist.

If they don’t list it, they don’t want it, they’re not going to say “Don’t send the NACAC”. Again, they don’t have to list a separate GC LOR as it’s part of the SR.

Seems I must have been living under a rock for 2 kids through the admissions process and 13k+ posts because I’ve never even heard of the NACAC ;).

Also not familiar with any schools that do this, but if you read the website and it says to send the SR sans GC evaluation, then do so. But if they say send the SR, then the assumption is that it includes the GC evaluation.

Let’s try the top of the list this time, American looks straightforward to me:

[Freshman Application Checklist, American University, Washington, DC](http://www.american.edu/admissions/freshman/freshmaninstructions.cfm)

Its making a little more sense now. Thanks for all of the help. I tried just google searching my question and it worked for most of them. Only ones I am really struggling with now are Wheaton (mass.), Skidmore, and mount holyoke.

Google the name of the school, go to their Admissions page, freshman admissions, requirements/checklist/etc.

Can you tell if this school, Wheaton, requires a School report and counselor letter?

[Freshman Applicants – Admission | Wheaton College](http://wheatoncollege.edu/admission/apply/freshman/)

I am confused about why you would ask this question… have you ticked off your GC that badly? Know that even if they don’t get a letter, sometimes they call and talk to the GC. You probably can’t hide from a bad GC rec…

Wheaton doesn’t do a very good job on their website!

On the page you linked to, if you go to ‘Admissions forms to Download’ and hit the CA link, it only shows the main CA application.

However, if you go to the bottom to ‘Application Checklist’, they include:

So you’ll need to send the CA SR.

If you’re ever not sure, it’s also fine to call or email the school to clarify their policy.

I probably shouldn’t speak for the OP, but I didn’t get the impression that Malixie was trying to circumvent a GC LOR, but rather figure out how to navigate the college admissions process, as not all students have ready access to a well informed GC.
