Do they have my Ap scores?

I'm going up to orientation this Thursday and I'm wondering if I should call for my AP grades or if Binghamton will have this years APs on record already.

I believe you have to submit them directly to Binghamton, but look around the equivalency charts to find out more information on this. And regardless if they do or don’t yet, that shouldn’t play a role in registering for classes.

if you requested that your scores be sent to binghamton they should end up there. but it can take awhile until your credits appear in your DARS report (an online report you will be able to check that keeps track of what you’ve taken and what requirements you’ve satisfied – a VERY handy tool!). but do not assume that you will be able to ask someone to give you that information during orientation – first, they may not have received it yet, second, they may not readily be able to access the info for you.

here’s the ap chart http://www.binghamton.edu/harpurac/transfer/apcurrent.html</a>
as you can see depending on your score, sometimes you get credit for a specific binghamton course, sometimes you get “elective credit” (you can get credits, but they don’t count for having taken a specific course), sometimes the ap score will satisfy a gen ed. generally, if you get ap credit for a specific course, you can’t take that course for credit.

so your ap scores will be relevant at registration IF they would affect the courses you would choose to take (eg, you might take a course that meets a certain gen ed if your ap score doesn’t satisfy it, or you may take a higher level course if you have ap credit for the lower level one)

if you don’t know your ap scores when you register at orientation, and then later based on the ap scores you want to change your classes, you can always do so when you come back in august (registration opens again on line) but it may not always be easy to move things around and get what you want then. so if you think knowing the ap scores will make a difference in what courses you register for, you may want to call for the scores – i know its aggravating to have to pay for them over the phone – but only you can decide if that cost is worthwhile to avoid any aggravation you may later have in trying to change your courses in light of your scores.

does anyone know how credits from another college transfer over? does bing do it automatically for you, or do i have to bring in some forms from the previous school?

re transfer credits – see here and links contained here – [Harpur College Academic Advising :: Transfer Information](http://www.binghamton.edu/harpurac/transfer/index.html)

duong - Usually that particular college has its own form/process, so you should check with where you’re transferring them from. Bing won’t automatically transfer them.

It depends, I guess. I was surprised to find that my classes from my previous college showed up in my DARS without my having done anything about it, so check your DARS if you haven’t already to see if they’ve somehow been processed.
