do they scan admissions materials?

does princeton scan all mailed admissions materials (such as teacher/optional recommendation, the "what else forms") into a computer, and then have the admissions committee view them by computer? also, does anyone know if harvard/yale do this? Just curious, thanks!

thats an interesting question! do you think it would make any sort of difference in their decisions and review though?

no i doubt it haha. but i was wondering because some of my teachers did weird envelope formatting things, and a few weren't labeled neatly and stuff like that. not super important, but still, does anyone know?

I wouldn't be surprised if they did, but you shouldn't worry about it. Whether they scan everything or not, they're rather meticulous in making sure your file is complete.

how much should we send for "what else" and supplementary materials?

I emailed the admissions office and asked whether it would be ok if I send thirty sheets of supplementary materials, and the person who answered my phone was like, "Feel free to attach it to your 'what else' form!"

Is it true? The more you send, the merrier?

Yes, they do.

I know this because some schools ask you to print in blue ink/print their apps in blue ink so when they are scanned the blue shows up against the black of the application.

more the merrier? absolutely not!
Don't send them any crap.
I know a kid who sent in a bunch of lit magazines that he was published in, the ADCOMs called the school counselor basically asking them why their student just sent them a box full of crap. Needless to say, despite being extremely accomplished, he was rejected at that school

30 pages is a great way to get rejected.
