just wondering. because I've been getting really good grades, til I messed up my last semester and it brought my grades down extremely low. do UCs (particularly UCLA) judge solely on your GPA, or do they look at trends? my GPA has been well above the average up until this last semester.

i'm just worried. would they hypothetically, pick someone who consistently had Bs and Cs with a 3.3, over a 3.3 of a student who got all As and Bs, but with a C and an F in the last semester? (I can justify the F and will be retaking it for a better grade)

P.S.: im in TAP with a non-impacted major for those saying 3.3 wont stand a shot at UCLA

They look for upwards trends aka 2.5 first semester than 4.0 the rest.

I’m not sure how a bad last semester would look.

But since your tap and without mentioning how many pre-reqs you’ve finish and whether the C or F was in a pre-req class it’s hard to tell you exactly what your chances are

Well it will hurt you a little more because you didn’t have an awesome GPA before. All As and Bs is solid if you’re consistent that, but if you get anything else you’d be much better off having all As or mostly As with a couple Bs. You said you could explain away the F, which is good. I’d say that you still have a shot, but this will definitely hurt you somewhat. If you have a killer personal statement and ECs, and you didn’t take a bunch of underwater basket weaving classes, then you should still have a reasonable shot.

they do look a trends, if u read the brochure thing for UCB trends is listed as a factor, im not sure about UCLA, but I would think that they would too.
