I really really need to kno

someone out there who knows about the UC process???? Do I have send in my first semester grades?

The UC's base the admissions decision solely on grades in A-G UC approved classes taken in 10th and 11th grade. However, senior year course choices do factor in a bit, just not grades. (in other words if you suddenly sign up for a schedule of woodworking, PE and fun in senior year, that may be held against you.) You do have to send a final transcript showing all 8 semesters of grades at the end of the year, and, in rare cases, a severe drop in grades senior year can result in the offer of admission being revoked. Best bet for detailed information about the UC admissions process is (1) your guidance counselor or (2) the UC admissions page at www.ucop.edu/pathways. Best of luck!

Here's the specific page on the UC admissions site discussing submitting transcripts:

Son received an email from UCSB admissions asking for 1st semester grades in February/March. He faxed them, I believe, and was admitted soon thereafter on the regular admit day for the UCs. They check sometimes, I guess.

So, those of you out there....those grades you are now working on can matter. In some cases they don't at all.

for borderline cases, they (may look for upward trend?) and request senior transcripts

Son was full IB, straight As for last two years. I don't know about that. And one IB score in at a 6. Who knows!? He was doing a 13th year? But he was being admitted to the College of Creative Studies as well......maybe it was that.

I will add here that the UCs were the most straight-laced of any of the schools applied to. And I think I have said before that they were the only school that wanted certain marks for the IB scores just like UK schools. They are strict on how they interpret things so if you deviate from the norm, which I think might have been the case of my son, and many out of state and international students may deviate from California curriculum etc. , then it must be hard for them. What they say is what you get. I loved UCSB. But I wasn't going.

will an incomplete mark hurt my childs college offer? she dropped one of her ap classes,(crappy teacher) anyway the teacher told her she may end up with an incomplete even though she dropped the class way before the nine weeks end. she has notified the college and has been told a counslor will call her, that was two weeks ago.so my question is will the college revoke their offer?if so can we do anything to fix the incomplete? thanks for your help!!!

I don't know that. But,I've a question for you.How do you get into a AP class as afreshmen in high school.

Do UC's check 1st quarter grades? We get our quarter grades in November and our final FIRST semester grade in January. I'm freaked cause I'm not doing so hot in my classes because its only been like four weeks of school and we only have so many points. I know for sure my first semester grades won't be horrible, but its just my quarter grades that are making me anxious..

They may or may not check your first semester grades. They won't check anything else.

sorry if i gave wrong impression senior in highschool not a freshmen.
