Do UCs not look at freshman grades?

(My high school doesn't rank students, by the way.)

they see the grades, but they dont count towards your UC GPA and dont affect your chance of being admitted or not

Great! Do they recalculate GPA by taking out electives?

I don’t think they count freshman grades or electives. I hate my freshman grades. Without my freshman grade I’m rank 18, but with it is 33 =[ i think that’s why i didn’t make the ELC =[

I probably won’t apply anyway. They rarely ever admit OOSers

it doesnt count, but you dont want to screw up that year either cause theyll see the grades

I didn’t exactly “screw up,” but they weren’t as good as my more recent ones.

^you’re good. dont worry about it.

yay  10char

If anything, I think poor freshman grades, followed by improved grades in your sophomore and junior years, would look good on your application.

lol i hope!

i agree, but not if it’s chock full of low C’s and D’s and F’s…like a move from a C average (2.0-3.0) up to an A average (3.0-4.0) is good

GPA frosh year: 3.3333

GPA soph year: 3.8
GPA junior year: 3.9
GPA senior year 1st term: 4.0 (projected)

(all unweighted; most rigorous courseload available; 8 APs at public HS ranked 3rd in state for college readiness [in other words, good reputation])
