im one of those people who cannot function without drinking some form of caffeine in the morning. do you make coffee in your dorm room, buy it from a coffee shop every morning, what?

Also, since buying coffee from a shop every morning would be expensive and inconvenient, how would one brew coffee in their room? I have an electric kennel that I can bring with me, but my room is not outfitted with a kitchen. halp

I currently use a regular coffee-maker (make sure it fits the fire regulations at your university so you don’t get fined!) but in retrospect, I would have bought a French Press; basically, you put water & ground coffee in it, and then when you press a lever, the water is filtered in. French Presses usually go for around $60, and if you have a way to boil your own water, they make better coffee than a coffee maker (and take less time).

I used an espresso machine (until it broke… but it was 15 years old). If you like cappuccinos, you can get a reliable machine on Amazon for under $60. Electric kettles are only $15+, though, and work for coffee and tea. Personally, I had an unhealthy personal attachment to my glorious EM and ended up having multiple cappuccinos/shots of espresso every day. But such is life.

I did when I lived in a dorm. I used to cook everything in my coffee maker, I even made Chef Boyardee in my coffee maker during late night cramming because they’d lock the kitchen up at 1am.

But, I don’t think I was supposed to have coffee maker in the dorm.

You can get an electric kettle for about $20-$30 I think. You just put water in it, flip a switch and it boils the water very fast. And yeah, French presses are the best!
