Lol … I take classes in my local community college … NOT. It was actually the first lap-dance I had the dubious pleasure of seeing and I think the image has been burned into my virgin eyes.

^who’d she lap-dance? yeah, glad i haven’t seen it

^some 44 year old gay dude. And her dad passed it off as “just a bit of fun”

Globalization is connecting the entire world, getting rid of many cultures.

Everyone has a culture. It’s ridiculous and contrary to the definitions both of culture and of societies to think otherwise.

Be culturally relative!

No, thats just what old people say.

I don’t think we necessarily have no culture, but that we’ve melded our native culture with the American one. A lot of people from our generation still practice the same religion as their parents, learn our cultural song and dance, and eat the same foods as our parents.

But of course, it differs from individual to individual. Some people “just want to be American” and try really hard to wipe out all traces of their foreignness. But it never really works. The slight accent on certain words, the frugality, the cultural mannerisms never go away.

I think it depends on whom you call “today’s generation.”

If it comprises kids who are under 18, then I think it is too early to say that they have no culture because they have been in the world for such a limited time and, by extension, have not experienced most of what the world has to offer.

If, instead, it comprises grown-ups, then I’m afraid I’m going to have to reserve my judgment because I simply cannot speak for them for I am not one. In addition, my own parents were immigrants who are about as dull as they come, but they still suscribe to customs (not rituals) from their native country.

I’m a bit more atavistic than most; I don’t listen to any of the music or watch any of the movies that my peers watch as most of the media that I enjoy come from the era spanning from the 60s to the 90s but no later, and I identify with very few trends that my peers follow, including Facebook, Youtube and whatever other activities “normal teenagers” may revel in. (hint hint)
