Do you feel at a severe disadvantage/jealousy knowing that others take study pills?

I just fail a prior test to get motivation to study for long hours…

Reading thru those posts scare me to death… lol
Just one quick question guys. I have never taken any study pill, but during my freshmen year, I had two 8am classes that started on M/W/F and T/R (5 days a week lol), so I did consume a lot of 5-hour energy and monster energy to wake me up :frowning: Are those two also consider “study pills”? Now I’m a sophomore and I rarely took any of these. Any bad effects in the long run?..

Why do people care so much about what other people are doing? Let them take their pills, why does it matter to you?

I don’t see the point in study aids. What is the point in going to college if you’re not going to learn something? How much do you actually remember if you’re cramming for hours before a final?

I study a little bit every week. I make sure I know the material being tested completely, even watching documentaries, etc, to write better essays and get higher scores. Because of this, I never have to worry about “crashing” or anything like that. The only drug I would use to study is marijuana: I can see how it would calm me down enough to just “absorb” something in a documentary since it makes me so focused.

But no, I’ve never used drugs to study, and I never would.

^You find marijuana helps you study? Interesting. I find that it scatters my thoughts all over the place and won’t let me focus on whatever I’m supposed to be focusing on. But to each their own of course :)

…I don’t cram. That’s not to say that I always know the material when I should know it (or even that I bother to learn it at all) but I can’t for the sake of my sanity. I’ve tried cramming and it stresses me out. So if it’s 10 or 11 at night and I don’t know something for a test in the morning, then I just won’t know it for the night because I probably won’t even remember it in the morning anyway.

I have used caffeine pills to stay awake in Chemistry and math classes before because I’ve been so tired. But that’s because coffee, despite how good it tastes, makes me sick – especially in the mornings.

I’ve always wondered, if it weren’t for the negative side-effects associated with things like anabolic steroids or memory-enhancing drugs, would they be considered such a big taboo?

That is to say: If you could take steroids or Ritalin without having to worry about shrinking your balls or becoming depressed respectively, why wouldn’t you?

The same epigenentic, stem-cell research that is going into a cure for Alzheimer’s disease may hold the key to unlocking unlimited memory (and you won’t have to lose any of your humanity to reach those new heights–good deal!).

Just don’t try to study on Salvia…

I am surprised no one has talked about Modafinil as a study aid. Does anyone use it?

ive never watched a single episode. maby i should write a screenplay for them… lol

Well I’d definitely take steroids if they had no side-effects. But not if I was a competitive athlete, professional or otherwise.

How does weed help you study? People tell me it has the exact opposite effects of Adderall.

I was diagnosed with ADHD, and I have a prescription for Adderall. Yes, it does help you pull it together and focus as well as make you more confident, but in the long run its actually not too great. I used to take it on most school days, and after a couple months, I had trouble focusing AT ALL whenever I didn’t take it (in the past, I used to be able to at least focus a little even if I didn’t take Adderall). My tolerance had grown, and I hated feeling kind of meh during the crash, so I stopped taking it so frequently. The withdrawal was actually pretty easy (only a took a week) and I guess I’m back to normal now. I only really use it for finals and all-nighters now.

That being said, I don’t see what the big deal is about people taking Adderall to study. According to most of you guys, its fine to drink alcohol (underage) and smoke weed to have fun (both of which are illegal), but its not fine to use Adderall to study? And its fine to have coffee, caffeine pills, and energy drinks to study, but it isn’t fine to take Adderall to study? These double-standards are ridiculous.

aaaand I like to blow
concentration zone

It seems to me that innate differences are more significant than the advantages afforded by study pills. I would be jealous of those first.
