If you apply for regular admissions and qualify for honors , will they invite you to apply to honors? D has 3.93 UW and 4.6 recalculated. 1460 SAT and decent EC’s, work experience and leadership. Can she wait to apply for Honors until after UF/FSU decisions come out or would that be too late. Just don’t want to jump through hoops if she isn’t going to attend.
Aren’t all of the Florida state universities decisions out?
2021, submitting her application next month.
Ah, okay.
I would call Burnett Honors College and ask them. Not sure anyone here can give you the correct answer for next year.
I asked a friend whose daughter is in the Honors program, and you apply for it.
There are actually two Honors colleges – Burnett Honors and Burnett Medical Honors. Separate application processes with different deadlines. With each, there is an application and essay required.
You apply after you get accepted to UCF.
She said there is a LOT of info on the honors website on UCF.edu.
Yes, my son started Fall 2019 and shortly after he was notified of merit scholarship he was invited to apply to BHC. Good luck!
As @JimDadinmia says, you apply for Honors (you can request an application to be mailed to you online after being admitted,) and on the Honors application, there is a form or something to fill out to be considered for the Burnett Medical Scholars program. You must apply to Honors by a deadline in November IIRC, so apply ASAP after being admitted to UCF.
If a NMSF, you’re auto-admitted to UCF and Honors, as long as you get everything required in on-time. I re-used my Common App essay for the Honors personal statement, so don’t feel like you have to write an entirely new essay (I actually used the essay thrice: on the UCF application, Honors application, and for the Burnett Medical Scholars application, which I was admitted to, but that’s b/c my essay was medicine-oriented.)
Hope that helps! Good luck with admissions!
She just got the honors app mailed to her without requesting, so I guess that question is answered.
@flprepaidmom That’s interesting, because last-year you had to use your UCF net-ID after being admitted to request an application via an online form. Well, whatever the reason, make sure she submits it asap if she wants to be considered for the Burnett Medical Scholars program!
@PikachuRocks15. My S21 submitted his honors app last week. Do you know how he will get notified if he is accepted?
@jinsun2000 I received notification in the mail and my status in the online portal (the Honors one, not my.ucf.edu) updated.
Hope that helps!
My son had to request the application. Took a week and a half to get here through mail. He completed it and we expressed it back. They received it 10/5, he got an email today 10/16 to log into the Honors portal, and that he was accepted.
@lintwo2go. Congrats to your son. My S21 got an email today and was accepted as well. Looks like they released notices to people who have their application in and completed.
To you and your son as well! Did you find anything out about scholarships yet? UCF’s site says Oct, but many here say not until at least Nov/Dec.
Nothing about scholarship yet. I am not sure when they will be sent out.
At least one BHC decision was released today. My S21 was accepted.
As for scholarships, a parent in one of the UCF parent groups on Facebook indicated that she was in a recent Zoom meeting where that same question came up. UCF’s response was that the first round of scholarships will go out sometime between late November and early December. Based on College Confidential comments from last year, it looks like December 3 was when students received notifications from the first round of scholarship offers.
Does anyone know if housing has opened yet and if planning to be honors whether it is as important to put a deposit down for housing now or okay to wait until February when they reserve a seat in honors? (From the way I understand it, there is a certain form that comes out in Feb to finalize the honors acceptance). I would like to wait until we see whether D receives an oos waiver or scholarship before putting a deposit on housing but I know housing is limited-even in honors, and don’t want to miss out since UCF is high on her list.
Wondering if you’d be willing to look at my resume to estimate my chances for UCF Burnett Medical Scholars? I am a High school senior
