I usually just get a pat on the back…

I’m not grounded. And usually a ‘good job’

I’ve never been paid for maintaining good grades. I always got the “we expect you to do your best always” speech. I don’t understand parents that do pay their kids, because that isn’t how the real world works. You either do your best in your job, or get fired. Case closed.

I never got paid for grades, which is why my motivation is more long term than my classmates. The kids who got cars for straight As will grow up to never work hard unless there is a foreseeable material benefit. That car will be old in 15 years, but the intrinsically motivated will probably have money to get one of their own.

In my entire life, I have never been paid for getting any type of grade. I have always been intrinsically motivated to do well in school.

However, I do get randomly rewarded with small gifts from time to time as an incentive (and only as an incentive) for doing well in school.

My parents are Asian, which means they are somewhat stingy with money and expect me to get good grades, reward or not.

i used to get paid in Middle School, but then that stopped…

Now, i get good grades because I want to. I’m not one to usually buy things, but in the rare occasion i do, my parents will gladly pay it for me. So it works out :)

I don’t get paid either…I don’t really care though.

No i am Asian, there is no option. If you don’t bring straight A’s, we get spanked

Not for grades directly, but they buy most of my stuff, which I feel bad about. I have a job but my hours suck.

My friend gets $50 for every A, which is pretty silly considering both her dad and her mother (divorced) are filthy rich and she gets everything she could ever want from them anyways (but she’s a very nice girl, and surprisingly unspoiled).

My parents just tell me that they expect A’s, and to “keep up the good work.”
Works for me.

No, my parents told me that “getting good grades is its own reward.” But if I do well I can usually use that to convince my parents to let me go do stuff.

@damn getting goo grades has gotten me a lot of stuff lol I’m allowed to go to house parties since my grades have showed that I’m “responsible and mature”

Paid? No. Occasional ice cream and dinner out after an academic awards ceremony? Absolutely.

no, but i used to

just got a ~3.96 UW GPA this semester (4.0 UW semester I), and i do not want nor do i expect money for it, mainly because mom gets me some stuff during the school year if i ever ask for it. and since i never ask for anything besides books and stationery, there’s really no need for money right now

i doubt that money would prove to be a good motive for me anyways

Getting A’s in order to get into a good college > Getting A’s in order to get $10/each

Nahhhh… I wish, I’d be rich! My parents say that getting good grades will keep me from ending up like them, and that’s good enough. They’ll buy me what I ask for in the very rare event that I ask them for material things because of my transcripts, but I’d have to wait a while (a year or so).

I don’t have to hear my mother’s nagging, if that counts.

Sometimes, only for straight A’s though. Anything below an A- results in an intense scolding session. Even an A- has them saying, “I wish you could do better. Why did you go down?” I don’t get good grades to get paid, though. I get good grades for my own personal gain, to be successful in life.

I wish. I always get praised and all that, which is nice. They know that I have self-motivation and that I don’t need bribery to get good grades, since I’m one of those people who’s rewarded enough when they see a good grade on a paper.
