I
d say I
m about in the middle. I
m involved in sports (track) so I have to have some level of spirit (I guess?) but I
m not too competitive, but I enjoy watching the football games, the pride of our school. Some people really go all out for pep rallies and whatnot, and I`ll do school spirit days for fun sometimes, but nothing really eccentric.

I have the same feeling as logic. My chemistry teacher tried forming a robotics and other science and math-based clubs, but was denied because of budget issues, so now we only have a small Science Olympiad team for a STEM-club. I tried taking honors pre-calculus over the summer but I could not, as the tight budget only allowed people who failed courses to take summer school. And I only received my AP psychology textbook for an online course after late October, which caused me to finish AP psych with a C+(First one that I have gotten at this school, but I will raise it to a B by the year’s end) for the first quarter, all because the school did not believe buying the book was necessary until I frequently badgered them for it. The administration’s excuse would be believable, except that they frequently host DJ and tail-gating parties to appease the lowest common denominators. Oh, did I mention that I began my HS years at a rigorous private school that did not weight courses and then I transferred to this current grade-inflated quagmire, and the rigor of my last school was not counted towards my class rank? So yeah…

Not to mention that I disagree with my high school’s mindset towards college. It seems that everyone is just trying to “look good for colleges.” I mean, most college-bound people here do not care if they are learning or not, just if their grades are good. Not to mention that the club attendance here is sort of pathetic. I mean, during club week it seems like everyone signs up for all the clubs just to pad their applications, and never participate in their activities or actually care about the club’s mission. Just to give an example, I saw several ultra-religious conservatives signing up for the GSA… really?

Not to mention the rules of this place. The administration has a knack for collective punishment, and they really do not care if a future burger-flipper broke a rule, they will punish those aspiring doctors and engineers. Such as last year, when a fray between about seven guys began over a flame-war on Facebook, in order to punish them, the genius big-wigs decided to shorten the lunch time, including the tutorials. So technically, less time in the tutorials obviously meant that my grades would suffer (Thankfully I did manage to obtain a 5.67wGPA/4.0uGPA for last year). Albeit the administration seriously got worse this year, as they practically stopped all tutorials because there was too much noise on the hallways, which prevented me from getting a lot of my graduation project done.

Speaking of the graduation project… since most seniors here do not plan on attending any selective four-year colleges, they tend to pick the lightest course-load possible. And to curb this senior slack, the county has installed a policy where seniors are required to finish one huge project in order to graduate. This is nothing for those who are taking just 2 standard courses and leaving early, but for someone like me who is taking 6 AP courses? Yeah… no.

Did I also mention how my school has a deficiency of advanced STEM courses?

tl;dr IHTFP

… I’m on student council so that’s something ; I also always dress up for stuff and try to always go to the homecoming games(haven’t missed on yet)… All the game I’ve been to I’ve participated in the cheers we have and traditions (not sitting until halftime). I try to better my school (esthetically and mentally ie rep, attitude etc). So I guess I got sprit :)
