We had depressing news here today: Plan II waitlist. The letter says only 60 are on the list, but it doesn't sound too optimistic about them not getting 100% of the program from the original acceptances. Have you heard of anyone accepted to Plan II who probably won't take it or do most people accept? Do you know of anyone who ever got in off the waitlist?

I think I've read that Plan II extends offers to around 330 applicants and has a yield rate of 50-55%. If 50% accept, the class will be 171 students. If 55% accept, the class will be 178 students. The goal is a total freshman class of 180 or fewer students so under this analysis there could be 2-8 students offered who were on the waitlist. There might be more if the yield rate is lower than 50%. Perhaps there is a way to move up on the waitlist. I would ask my counselor and check the Plan II website to see what they recommend. I would also check into whether it's possible to get into liberal arts honors.

Please also consider this: Virtually all Plan II applicants are very good students, but most applicants don't even make it to the waitlist. You (or your student, if you are the parent) obviously has something special that caught their attention. Best wishes and good luck.

there are 2 people from my school who got into plan2 b/c the applied early. they also found out they got into another school where they applied early action, and so i know they will not be going to plan2. whether they have already told UT and their spots given to accepted people from reg decision, i'm not certain. 2 other people from our school who got in under reg decision are not certian whether they will accpet plan2. there are 4 people from my school, including myself, who are doing plan2 for sure. also, one person got waitlisted from our school as well.

our school did well this year w/ plan 2, lol. best of luck!!!

Plan II has a high rate of admittance because the applicant pool is HIGHLY self-selecting.

I know of someone who was waitlisted last year and eventually got in, but chose not to go. I was deferred in December, but I withdrew my app.
