thats some good logic right there. I’m still so stressed about this though haha Just gotta study as hard as i can.

Do you think someone that got into a very competitive/high gpa major would risk getting rescinded with two C’s? It just says “maintain your GPA” on my contract.

obviously, no one would purposely get two C’s to test their luck. but all im saying is, it’s probably okay. but what do i know, i have no idea how the admissions office thinks.

and in case anyone was wondering, i got in for business econ and yes i’m in a predicament where i could go under 3.0 with just one C.

1netruesole-
Where are you getting the 3.0 #? Ucla is pretty vague & as of today it looks like my gpa may go as low as 3.18 for this semester. That is a pretty significant difference. I will call UCLA tomorrow but tonight I am curious if you have any more details… :)

my counselor told me the general guideline should be 3.0 even though they dont say it. it also seems to be the general consensus on here, not to mention it makes the most sense considering Cal is also 3.0

shawn - let me know what they say!

I called and they were VERY VAGUE… DAMN IT. I will call back a little later hopefully get someone a little more reassuring…

All he said was that typically a C is not enough to rescind you for but there is always a chance… He said that I could submit the update on the University website and they would take a look at it but that may take 5 - 7 days…

At this case Ill wait until my Chem grade is posted and pray for a miracle! With 1 C my GPA may be 3.18… That is a significant drop so I am really nervous.

I thought about submitting an SIR to another school as a backup plan but they are all UC’s and you are only allowed to SIR to one school so I’m rolling the dice I guess.

Hey guys. I was just at UCLA today and I decided to drop by the office of admissions to ask a couple of questions. Naturally I had to ask about the “maintaining your gpa” part, lol. The woman seemed very tired, I think she gets asked about that a lot, hahahah. But I asked her what it specifically meant and she asked me if I had two or more C’s this semester, I told her no, just A’s and B’s. And then she said you’re good to go, that’s maintaining your GPA.

I think for 2 C’s, it might be different since it’s kind of borderline, but if you could visit the office it would be much much better since they can’t put you on hold and you can ask them face to face. Pretty quick and straightforward.

oh man. she seemed concerned with 2 Cs. I already got a C+ last quarter, which they told me on the update was fine. Hopefully I dont get another one!

Hi Sunnyseas! I may have 1 C but the rest of my classes are A’s and B’s. I probably won’t find out for sure until after the SIR day but I may drive to the campus Tuesday just to make sure and talk to someone in person. Where is the Office of Admissions and they allow walk in advising? Are their hours posted online? thanks for advice! any info will help!

Heyy shawnanehrens! She did emphasize two or more, but do talk to them for peace of mind, I know how unsettling mulling over the whole “maintain your gpa” thing is hahah. The Office of Admissions is located in Murphy Hall, around the G-4 area in this map:

Definitely print the map unless you know the place like the back of your hand or you’ll waste time walking around like I did this afternoon! Lol. I just checked their hours and they’re only open M-F from 1-4 pm, you might not be able to catch them before the SIR deadline but visiting on tuesday after veterans weekend is definitely still a good idea. As for walk-in advising, I’m not sure about how much in-depth advice you might need but there will be staff you can talk to with regards to general concerns like what I asked about spring grades. You can find their contact details here:
