Do you know what you want your future career to be, or are you just playing it by ear?
If so, what made you decide on your career choice?

Personally, I am still completely undecided despite being in my senior year of highschool. I'm considering Pharmacy, Psychology or Biology, but things could easily change. It's all so confusing!

I plan to major in Engineering. However, I’m really hesitant. I like science and math well enough, but I don’t think I’m very good at them. My AP Physics/Engineering vehemently disagrees though, and thinks I’d be fantastic. He’s not the type of the person to lie about things like that (he flat out tells people they suck sometimes and only really cares about the students he sees a lot of potential in - and I’m pretty much his favorite – which says a lot). So, at this point I’m just gonna trust him that I’d be good at it and go for it!
If I end up being bad at it I’ll switch to something along the lines of Economics, which I know I am good at and quite enjoy.
Apparently it’s easier to switch from Engineering to Economics than the other way around, hence the trust in my teacher rather than going with something I know I am good at and enjoy.

The career path for Engineering is pretty obvious. If I major in Economics I’d like to work as a Financial Adviser for a business or something. Not really sure though, I haven’t thought about much since it’s my backup.

I’m going into 11th grade and I think I’m really set on being a travelling English teacher during my 20’s. Then I want to settle back in the US, go to grad school and continue teaching, hopefully eventually becoming a school administrator.

I have absolutely no idea of what my future career will be. I think it’s partially because I seem to idealize all jobs. I just feel like I have no passion/direction. I think maybe I just all in love with the idea of jobs-i.e. doctors, lawyers, psychologists, cops, engineer, business, political jobs. It just seems as if once I got into high school ad only tested into higher level english/languages/history that people try to pigeon hole me into liberal arts careers (I guess I’m the only one at my school who thinks that people can change between the ages of 14 and 18 to liking different subjects).

I would like to become a lawyer of some kind but getting into law school and, more importantly, paying for it is tough. I’ll most likely major in economics, finance, or marketing for my undergrad. My entire family except for a select few are all involved in business or banking, I really couldn’t see myself anywhere else.

That’s kinda how I feel. My dad and grandfather are doctors and I can’t bring my self to look farther than medicine sometimes. I don’t know realistically what I want to do either research, business, or medicine. I really do enjoy math though. I feel like I need an outside sources opinion because I’m biased towards medicine and I don’t know of its because its right for me or that’s what other family members pursued.

I honestly have no clear idea because my path seems so circuitous. I’m more interested in Science than anything, more specifically Biology & Astrophysics. Though Im good within the Arts and Athletics. I know I’ll have time to think about what I wanna do (upcoming freshman) but its a matter how ill efficiently utilize the talents I have.

I’m torn between being an astrophysicist or a neuroscientist. Both areas of study are [somewhat] philosophical and I’ve always been a passionately curious person. :)

Sometimes I feel like @ybrown234, though, and dream of leading a life similar to that of Christopher Mccandless!

Doesn’t this time of life feel like an ultimatum?!
