Do you need a car at FSU?

I am just wondering, if you decide to bring a car;

-Can you park as a freshman?
-Is it on campus parking? or so you have to pay for a private lot? how much is a private lot?

[FSU Parking & Transportation](<a href=“Home | Transportation & Parking Services”>http://parking.fsu.edu/)
Your transportation fee covers one parking sticker and pays for free FSU bus service.
Also, no fare is required on any StarMetro regular citywide route with a valid FSU Student id. All routes, all days.
Freshmen can bring cars and park on campus.

Student Transportation Access Fee

* All students are assessed a transportation access fee per credit hour as part of their tuition. Students with vehicles may obtain their parking permit at no additional charge on-line at FSU Parking and Transportation Services.

Warning: if you park in the wrong spot you will get a $20 citation.

Your parents can also get you a [www.UniversityCabCash.com - University Cab Cash - “The Safe Way Home”](http://www.universitycabcash.com/) card so you will always have ready access to safe transportation.

Freshman have the same parking privileges as all FSU students. But it is not hard to get around without a car. And parking is tight. So you only use your car during hours that classes are not that busy or you will never find a spot.

interesting

Parking at FSU is pretty much like any state U. If you are looking for a space for a 11 am class, get there by 10 am. But if you live on campus and leave at 6pm to run to the grocery or Walmart, plenty of spots when you get back. After freshman year it pays to get an apt on the bus line or pay more to live closer. you will save on gas and the hassle of finding a spot. You can’t be late for class, drive at the last minute, and expect to park close.

Parking is very competitive on campus.

i don’t think you need a car, especially if you are living on campus. our s lived on campus last year, never had a problem getting a ride to publix or wherever with a friend. this year he is living off campus in his frat which is on college ave near campus, so no car again.

students at FSU told me having a car has more cons than pros. I prefer walking or riding a bike anyways. Get to meet people =D

My d is a freshman and is presently at FSU for the summer, she has her car and she loves it. It gives her freedom. She has no problem as of yet finding a parking spot; the Fall semester may be a lot different. She is an amputee and has a handicap sticker; there are extra designated spots so that she does not have to park in the parking lot.

maybe ill just bring a car but not drive it too much… Ill bring a bike too

I start this fall as a junior and I’m not taking my car. Was also told by some friends that a car really isn’t necessary to move around in Tallahassee

i mean yea, but bringing stuff from wall mart and bigger things to a dorm would be hard with out a car
