Do you own a car or a bicycle etc as an international student in USA?

Hey! If you are a student living off campus, what do you use to commute to college? Im about to start my studies this fall, ive got a drivers license here in Sweden that I guess is accepted in the USA too? Lets say you live 2 miles away from the college you attend, then what is the best option to commute? Ofcourse a bike is the cheapest and most reliable but I have heard that bicycling in USA sucks, is this true?
Should I rather invest in a car then? I wont be able a fancy one as im only bringing around 5000usd with for a car if i would decide to buy one.

Im gonna attend ASU if that makes any difference.

I think you need a state-issued permit or driver’s license to legally drive (I could be wrong).

However I suggest getting a bike though as parking near universities can be tough. Phoenix gets very hot in the summer and early fall, so also get some light clothing.

Um, you definitely will need to visit the DMV to get a license.

Biking and skateboarding, but as mentioned earlier, it gets dangled hot!!!

You will be able to drive with your foreign license for a certain amount of time provided you have an International Driving Permit which serves as a translation of your foreign license. In most countries, these are issued by an automobile club. Here is the link from the AAA website that will allow you to find the peer organization(s) in your country: http://exchange.aaa.com/automobiles-travel/international-travel/international-clubs/#.VcuF1flVhHw

Look for housing closer to campus so that you don’t have to rely on a car.
